Course Brief :

Documentary photography is all about storytelling in picture form. And whether the subject is one of potential publication value, or simply an exploration of personal interest close to you, the process is the same - to capture and arrange photos to tell an in depth story in a visually engaging way. In this four-lesson, four-assignment interactive course you’ll explore the genres of photojournalism and documentary photography through example and hands-on practice - applying new photographic skills under the watchful eye of your instructor - every step of the way.

Upon completion of this course, you’ll be able to:

Identify subjects of documentary interest and potential.
Establish rapport and feel confident photographing beyond your comfort zone.
Shoot variety in the types of images needed to create an engaging visual narrative.
Capture both style and content in the photographs you capture.
Edit and sequence your documentary photos to “tell the story” with optimum impact.

What you will need:

Digital SLR or compact mirrorless camera.
Selection of lenses (or zoom) covering wide-angle to medium telephoto range.
Computer with photo-processing software.
A light, study tripod would be helpful.
Curiosity about the world around you and willingness to venture into it.
