Understanding Composition in Photography
Course Price: USD 149.0
Course Price With Skype Call: USD 169.0

A photograph is powerful for not just WHAT subject is depicted, but HOW that subject is presented to the viewer.  Not at all new, this idea of creative composition is rooted in centuries of artistic thinking.  For many just starting out in photography, the topic of composition can be a confusing one. But not anymore . Let award-winning professional photographer, David Bathgate, show you how.

For moving beyond “snap-shots” to creating “Photographs,” this 4-lesson interactive online photography course will give you hands-on experience with just how to compose photographs that speak out, and do so in your "voice."  We’ll cover the “rules” of photographic composition, when and why the rules should be ignored and how this all can be creatively applied to your own unique vision with the camera.  This is a foundation photography course that you just can’t afford to pass up.

Upon completion of these online photography classes, you will be able to:

  • Identify meaningful compositional elements
  • Incorporate the rules of composition into your own photography
  • Recognize how you as a photographer can evoke mood and emotion
  • Seek out avenues for photographic inspiration

Reviews

I signed up for the course “Understanding Photographic Composition” because I wanted to understand more about how to (consciously :) ) make good photographs. I had the basic technical, but knew way too little about the elements of a good photo. I also liked the opportunity to receive feedback, I have read some theory, and wanted critique from a professional to understand my own strengths and weaknesses better.

The course exceeded my expectations. The written lessons were useful and to the point. However, the core value is in the assignments and the feedback. As I have too little time to attend a physical photography course, the opportunity to work on the assignments in my own pace were essential. David’s feedback were constructive, encouraging and thorough, and I use his advice every time I pick up my camera.

Couldn't have found a better course and instructor. This online course brought me to a firm grasp of just what compostion in photography is - and when and how to disregard its rules and guidelines when creativity calls! Thanks. I really enjoyed this one.
