Travel Photography with Brenda Tharp
  • Duration : 90 days

Course Brief :

Have you ever heard yourself saying ‘it looked better in person than in this picture’ when sharing photographs of your journeys with friends and colleagues?  The pictures we make while traveling or on holiday are our visual memories of the places we've visited. We want those images to have impact and tell a story of our journey in a way that holds the interest of the viewer.  With this online photography course instructed by professional travel photographer and travel photography workshop leader, Brenda Tharp, you'll take your photography beyond "snapshots" and learn to tell the story of your travel experiences in well composed "Photographs."

This online travel photography course is designed to help you compose the strongest pictures you can, to see and capture the daily moments of life, to approach and photograph people in a meaningful way, to express the essence of a place, and to create complete stories of your travel experiences - in pictures. You’ll learn simple, key concepts that, when applied, will have you making stronger travel photographs, no matter where you journeys lead you.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Create a captivating, informative visual story of your travels or holidays
  • Make storytelling environmental portraits
  • Create engaging travel scenes
  • Capture candid moments of people interacting
  • Find and photograph storytelling details
  • Work successfully in low light situations

What you will need:

  • Digital SLR or mirror-less compact camera with interchangeable lenses (film is also fine, but you'll need to scan images for upload to the TCI website)

Reviews :

When you can't attend one of Brenda's wonderful on-location workshops, learning Travel Photography from her online and interactively is definitely the very best thing. Brenda offered both excellent and informative critiques of my work, and helpful, supportive advice throughout this enjoyable online course. For those fans of Brenda's teaching (and there are many of them out there) this course is a most worthy investment. Bravo Brenda!

Brenda Tharp is the consummate professional when it comes to travel photography. I have yet to join her in the field on one of the wonderful photo tour destinations she travels to, but until that time, I'm well prepared (due to this great course) for the journey. Brenda's a gifted teacher, as well as a photographer. Until you board that plane, this online travel photo adventure with Brenda is the arm chair way to learn (and enjoy) travel photography.

Next best thing to being there. Can never find time to make one of Brenda Tharp's on-location workshops, so gave this a try. Fantastic! An online course that I truly enjoyed. Learned what making great travel photos is all about and will apply it all on my next long holiday - hopefully in Thailand!
