One does not have to be trained in traditional fine art-making processes to begin the journey into creating mixed-media photographic images. The addition of mixed-media to photography introduces new tools and techniques to the creative process - means through which the photographer can greatly affect the overall artistic and tactile presence of the final image.

This course is designed to give photographers the opportunity to explore the world of mixed-media photo imaging. Participants will be introduced to mixed-media photo techniques and materials that will facilitate understanding of just how images can evolve into something more than traditional photographic prints.

Photoshop techniques will be interspersed with the hand-working of prints, allowing students to experience how digital and traditional techniques can be combined to produce photographic works that speak with impact and creativity.

What you will need:

Lesson plan:
  • People, portraits and the hand-colored image
  • Hand-painted landscape photographs
  • Mixed-media coloring and organic forms
  • Hand-painting architectural photos
